cool so there not loud! what species should i get? bearing in ming the goby only grows to 5cm. oh and will i be able to keep one with small crabs like porcelain crabs, and pom pom crabs? and maybe sexy shrimps?

crabs are fine but not sexy shrimp, in the wild these will be considered as prey as they are sizable to the pistol
i thought as much, i from other sources i have found that they are very noisy, so i dont think i will bother getting one, thanks :)

Can you actually buy pistol shrimps individually? I've never see them for sale unless paired with a goby. I've got a sulphur goby and I recently read that they are pistol shrimps. Is this right? And if I did find a pistol shrimp how do I know they'd want to live together? They might hate each other.
yep they are shrimp gobys, i think you can buy them individually, ots alwayts hit or miss wether they pair or not, its luck really, but i supose if you put the shrimp near the goby in the first place its gonna have a good chance of finding it lol
